FORMER PRO. SAME STANDARD.
Most people drive to FORM.
Taylor Washington runs.
Literally.
The former Nashville Soccer Club defender spent years building a career around discipline, performance, and resilience. Retirement from professional soccer hasn’t changed that mindset—it’s simply shifted how he applies it.
These days, Washington still trains, runs through the city, and stays active in the Nashville community. The competitive edge may no longer be tied to game day, but the routine that built his career remains intact.
“Recovery is where growth actually happens,” he says. “The sauna and cold plunge help me reset physically and mentally so I can be at my best.”
When Taylor Washington retired from professional soccer, the structure of game days and team training sessions disappeared, but the habits that built his career didn’t.
For more than a decade, Washington competed at the highest levels of American soccer, including several seasons with Nashville Soccer Club. His career was built on discipline, consistency, and an understanding that peak performance isn’t only about what happens during a match. The real work often happens away from the spotlight—during recovery, training, and the daily routines that keep an athlete performing at their best.
Over the course of his career he logged more than 200 professional appearances across MLS, USL Championship, and other competitions.
But statistics only tell part of the story.
Washington built a reputation not only as a disciplined athlete but as one of the most respected figures in the Nashville community. When he announced his retirement in 2025 after ten years of professional soccer, the club described him as someone whose impact off the field was just as meaningful as his performances on it.
That mindset hasn’t changed since stepping away from professional competition.
These days, Washington still trains regularly, stays active in the Nashville community, and continues to prioritize the same things that supported him throughout his career: movement, recovery, and fueling his body with intention.
One of those routines now includes regular visits to FORM Wellness.
“Just because I don’t run around Geodis Park anymore doesn’t mean that I slip up with how intentional I am about optimizing my body,” Washington says. “High-quality products matter because they support performance, recovery, and longevity. Brooke stepped me through everything I may need. The small details compound over time.”
For professional athletes, those small details matter more than most people realize.
Throughout a career in elite sports, the body absorbs thousands of impacts, training sessions, and travel days. Recovery becomes essential—not optional. The ability to perform consistently over a long season depends heavily on how well the body is restored between efforts.
“Recovery is where growth actually happens,” he says. “The sauna and cold plunge help me reset physically and mentally so I can be at my best.”
Heat and cold therapy have long been staples in professional locker rooms. Sauna sessions help increase circulation, relax muscles, and promote recovery by encouraging blood flow and detoxification. Cold plunges reduce inflammation, tighten blood vessels, and accelerate muscle repair. Alternating between the two creates a powerful reset for both the body and the nervous system—something athletes rely on to stay consistent through the physical demands of training and competition.
For Washington, that routine feels familiar.
Even in retirement, he approaches health with the same mindset that shaped his playing career. Staying active remains a daily priority, whether that means running through Nashville, playing soccer recreationally, or maintaining a consistent training routine.
“Running, playing soccer, walking—staying active is part of who I am,” he says. “Consistency in training builds discipline, and discipline carries over into every area of life.”
“Every day I pray to follow the greatest commandment Jesus ever taught—love God, love others as you love yourself,” Washington says. “Community is joining life with other people who are just as human as we are. I believe in finding what connects us rather than what divides us.”
That philosophy extends beyond physical performance. During his time with Nashville Soccer Club, Washington became one of the organization’s most respected figures not only for his work on the field but also for his commitment to the community. He spent years participating in outreach programs, mentoring young athletes, and investing time in causes across Nashville.
Faith and community continue to shape how he approaches life after soccer.
“Every day I pray to follow the greatest commandment Jesus ever taught—love God, love others as you love yourself,” Washington says. “Community is joining life with other people who are just as human as we are. I believe in finding what connects us rather than what divides us.”
For Washington, wellness has never been limited to physical health. It includes the relationships we build, the routines we keep, and the discipline we carry with us long after the final whistle.
Professional soccer may be behind him, but the standard that built his career remains firmly in place.
The workouts continue. The runs through Nashville still happen. And the recovery routine that once helped him prepare for game day now helps him stay strong for whatever comes next.
